About Me

Welcome to my blog - The Galloping Gardener. I am the author, the photographer and the intrepid traveller who searches the world for new gardens.

I came to gardening very late in life (as, I suspect, many of us do) and if you'd like to know more you can read one of my first blog entries:

I'm not going to go over history here, but I'm lucky enough to travel for both my work and with my family, so I get to see more than my fair share of wonderful gardens on the way and this blog is about those that I want to tell the world about.

Sometimes I travel miles to look at a garden and am disappointed when I arrive. I don't write about these gardens, because the intention here is to share the places that I think other garden lovers will enjoy, rather than write derogatory comments about those that either don't make the grade, or are "in progress". So my blogging philosophy is simple because I don't write about gardens I don't like. And whilst some might argue that this approach is too subjective, there are occasions when I return to a garden that did not originally make it on to my blog and find that my view has changed!

I hope you'll enjoy my "Galloping" reviews and travel the world with me as I visit more and more gardens. I also spend several months a year in India, where I have founded a charity to help the village people of rural Rajasthan have access to free medical care and you can read more about this under the "India" tab at the top of this blog.

I'm always looking for new gardens to visit, so if you have ideas for me, or have a garden that you'd like to show me, please contact me at: thegallopinggardener@gmail.com
